In honor of National Volunteer Week, we would like to thank everyone who has volunteered with Twenty-Six: Twelve. From participating in our trips, to serving in your community, we want you to know that volunteering your time is appreciated! Specifically, we would like to thank our Most Valuable Volunteers for their tremendous help, as you are a crucial part of what Twenty-Six: Twelve does.

I received the nicest call today. It was from  Pat Pilkington who works in the Presiden’t’s office of Samaritan’s Purse. She just wanted to thank Twenty-six:Twelve for all the support that we have given to Operation Christmas Child over the past few years.

Pat shared a little with me about her trip to Panama this year where she got to be on the distribution team. The children were amazed that people could love them so much. She shared with me that the children in the communities who receive the shoeboxes also go through a discipleship program throughout the year where they study the Bible and memorize scripture. What a joy for her! She got to see their ‘graduation’ from their program.

Then the best part was that I got to talk about us! I have the great privelege to tell people all over the country about who we are and why we exist – and the amazing work that God is doing in and through us.

I heard from my new great friend, Dr. Beatriz Thompson this morning. She gave me an update on the patient that I had written about in the previous post.”Beckie little Kaleem’s tube is out. I drove Raquel, the lady who kept givin direction with green houses, and  a volunteer to Stann Creek ie 105 miles. I do not know how Raquel tolerated such a long ride without complaining. The oncologist saw her and ordered blood transfusions,Chest X-ray, doppler ultrasound and then said after those things he will start chemo. Raquel was also running a fever on arrival therefore no chemo could be started. He explained the need for amputation. So right now she is in hospital so that tomorrow she can get USG,she has gotten first blood transfusion. She has hope that she will raise Kaleem and see him become a lawyer.”

Please continue to pray for our team who will be going in February that we can provide the right training and support for this team who are beginning their palliative care association there in Belize.

“I will praise God’s name in song
and glorify Him with thanksgiving.” Psalm 69:30

I love to sing! Those who know me best know that when I am singing – even when I am off key – that my heart is full of joy and thanksgiving. My heavenly Father hears my songs of Thanksgiving as well. These are some of the things that we here at Twenty-six:Twelve are singing songs of Thanksgiving about in 2008:

750 Individuals and families have Bibles because the employees of our FMS family have shared them throughout our communities

More than 800 Children in impoverished parts of the world will receive a shoebox full of gifts and hope – all because of the generosity of the FMS family. Through these boxes they will hear that the One who made them loves them with His unfailing love –

God is active and making Himself known all over the world! And we don’t just have to read about it in magazines or hear about it on the news– we are getting to truly be a part of His work.

Children in Bulgaria have new, safe playgrounds

Teenaged mothers heard the good news about Jesus while having fun at camp – knowing their babies were safe and loved.

We are also thankful for enough food, clean water, warm beds and safe planes. But most of all we are thankful for our friends within the FMS family that make every day at work a reason to sing!

For those of you who aren’t familiar, there is a search engine called Good Search. (www.goodsearch.com) Basically, they donate about a penny to a charity of your choice for each search you make on their search engine. The full explanation can be found at http://www.goodsearch.com/About.aspx.

Twenty-Six: Twelve is registered to receive funds for searches preformed on Good Search. Simply type in “Twenty Six Twelve” in the Who Do You Goodseach For? blank and it should verify and read “Twenty Six Twelve (Fort Worth)”. Then, every time you use Good Search, with us as your chosen charity, we will get a penny! It could add up fast if your entire office makes a commitment to do this! It’s a neat concept, and we would love to take advantage of any fund raising means we can!

Emily and I went to Forney today and got to meet Lori and see Laura again. These ladies are enthusiastic and energetic about Accolade and serving their patients. They are already thinking of ways to serve their community – and have started on their shoeboxes, too! Welcome to the FMS family, Forney!

Hello! Welcome to the Twenty-Six: Twelve blog. We plan to use this site as another means for people, those within the FMS family as well as others, to stay informed about what we are currently up to and what we have been up to in the past. Some posts will be to inform employees of uncoming opportunities to serve, and some will be to give a summary of a trip or community service project. Whether you visit our site to learn about ways to get involved, or simply to learn more about who we are, we hope you will enjoy your time on our blog!
